In order to effectively combine research, education and production in a technology-intensive industry, it is necessary to link all activities into one whole. For this purpose, the National Center for Space Engineering (NCKI - Národné centrum kozmického inžinierstva) was established as a specialized purpose equipment. The center's role is to combine academic research, university education of the young generation and the technology industry into functional unity, so that all components of this connection benefit. One of the main outputs of the center is the establishment and support of start-ups companies in which mainly students and graduates of technical schools will work. The objective of NCKI is to support their activities in Slovakia. Nowadays, when faced with the problems when many young people going abroad, these activities can act as a significant stabilizing factor. NCKI focuses primarily on industry-related activities built on Industry 4.0 principles. In the field of science, NCKI will act as a " mediator "of services for scientific experiments that need the results of measurements carried out under extreme conditions (experiments in the universe, for example). We are also focusing on systems designed for long-term survival in space (participation in technical projects related to the mission on Mars). We see a very perspective area in the continuation of the project of the first Slovak satellite – skCUBE.
